Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Charity Quiz yesterday and helped us raise over £2,500 for Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity. This sum was matched by Bracher Rawlins, bringing the total raised to over £5,000.

The event was our largest quiz yet, with more than 150 clients and friends crammed into the Slug & Lettuce in Fetter Lane, EC4.

The evening started with Jack from Rays of Sunshine telling the audience how the charity brightens the lives of seriously ill children in the UK by granting wishes and organising group outings. Past wishes include one granted to Emelia, whose greatest wish was for Richard Hammond to drive her in a pink Lamborghini (shown in picture).

Jack went on to explain that the money raised by us at last year’s quiz paid for a wish for Blake, aged eight, a “lively little cheeky fella” from Kent. Blake, who suffers from Juvenile Arthritis, visited Legoland, where he played in the special pirates’ cabin before going on the rides. He had a wonderful time.

As ever there was strong competition between the 21 teams with huge cheers greeting correctly answered questions, particularly the more devilish ones (of which there were several). There were also plenty of groans of frustration at answers that got away.

The winners this year were Beck Greener with an outstanding total of 73 points. They just pipped Quizzy McQuizface (who surely deserved an award for the best team name, if nothing else). The wooden spoon went to The Dead Parrots (probably undone by a total absence of Monty Python questions).

Thanks as ever to quizmaster Victoria Willetts for organising the event and putting together such a splendid array of questions, ranging from Maltesers to the Eiffel Tower, ABBA to Florence Nightingale.

If you weren’t able to make the quiz this year, please let us know if you would like to put together a team at next year’s event by emailing matthew.cowan@bracherrawlins.co.uk.
